We Furnish Futures

The Bay Area Furniture Bank’s beneficiaries are individuals who, while receiving assistance finding shelter from local social service agencies, still experience furniture poverty. Once they receive shelter, they rarely have the means to purchase the most basic of items, such as a bed, or a table and chairs.

This is where we come in. We receive donated, gently used furniture, or purchase new items, and deliver them to those in need, once they’ve been referred to us by our partner agencies.

We accept recipients through a case manager referral only.

  • If you are in need of furniture and are currently working with a social service agency, ask your case manager for more information on how they can submit a referral on your behalf.
  • If the agency is not a registered partner of ours, please have them contact us here or call at (650) 969-2100.

Because of the way we are chartered, we serve clients who have been referred to us by a social service agency. Our furniture is not free, there is a cost to every item available.

To receive services from our organization, you will need to work with a case worker at one of the social services agencies. Visit this page for a list of partnering agencies.

You will need to be enrolled with such agency to receive services from them and be potentially eligible to receive furniture. To enroll, they will gather some information from you, and open a case on your behalf with our organization; at that time they will let you know if they have the budget to cover the cost of furniture.

If you are already receiving assistance from a social services agency, please have your eligibility officer determine if the agency is a Partner Agency of the Bay Area Furniture Bank. If it is, then an eligibility officer will be able to utilize our services and request furniture. If your agency is not a Partner Agency and is interested in learning more about becoming a Partner Agency of the Bay Area Furniture Bank, please have them contact us directly.
